Five-year-old girl dies after falling from 10th floor of Govindpuri apartment
A five-year-old girl died on Saturday evening after accidentally falling from the tenth floor of a residential building at Asha Kiran Apartments in Govindpuri, located in southeast Delhi. The tragic incident took place at approximately 7 p.m. while the child was playing alone on the balcony of the apartment.
According to local authorities, the Govindpuri police station received a Police Control Room (PCR) call reporting the incident shortly after it occurred at around 7 p.m. A police team was immediately dispatched and rushed to the spot at the residential complex.
Upon arrival, the police team found that the young girl had fallen from the high-rise building onto the ground below. She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention. However, doctors at the medical facility declared her dead upon arrival.
An initial investigation by the police revealed that the child's parents were not present in the apartment at the precise time of the accident. The girl's father, who is employed at a local fish market, was away at his workplace when the incident occurred. Meanwhile, her mother had temporarily left the apartment to visit a neighbour's house nearby.
"Preliminary inquiry has revealed that the girl was playing in the balcony when she accidentally fell," a senior police officer confirmed regarding the initial findings of the case.
In order to establish the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal fall, the Govindpuri police have initiated a comprehensive probe. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage captured by cameras installed within the Asha Kiran Apartments complex as well as those in the surrounding areas.
In addition to analyzing the camera footage, the police are actively questioning the security guards on duty at the residential complex, local residents of the building, and the girl's family members. Further inquest proceedings are currently underway at the Govindpuri police station as authorities continue their investigation into the tragic death.
