Five Police Officers Injured in Demolition Drive Clash Near Delhi Mosque

Five police officers were injured in central Delhi early on Wednesday after a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) demolition drive near the Faiz-e-Elahi mosque met with violent resistance.

The anti-encroachment action, which was conducted in accordance with a Delhi High Court order, escalated into clashes when locals and miscreants targeted the deployed security forces.

During the enforcement drive, a crowd of local residents and miscreants gathered at the site and began pelting the police personnel with stones. The stone-pelting resulted in injuries to five police officers who were present to secure the area during the MCD's demolition activities.

Following the violence, the Delhi Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown individuals. Security forces have also detained approximately ten people for questioning as part of their initial investigation into the clash.

According to police officials, active efforts are underway to identify the specific miscreants who participated in the stone-pelting. The authorities have stated that they will initiate strict legal action against all individuals found to be involved in the attack on the officers.

The demolition drive near the Faiz-e-Elahi mosque was launched as an anti-encroachment measure. The MCD carried out the action on the ground after the Delhi High Court issued an order directing the drive.

Currently, the Delhi Police are continuing their investigation to identify the perpetrators. The ten detained individuals remain under questioning as authorities work to establish the sequence of events.
