Five-Month-Old Baby and Four Women Rescued After Malka Ganj Roof Collapse

Four women, a five-month-old baby, and a pet dog were safely rescued on Thursday after the roof and staircase of a residential house collapsed in Malka Ganj, located in north Delhi's Subzi Mandi area.

The collapse left the occupants stranded on the upper level of the building, prompting an emergency rescue operation.

The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) deployed four units to the scene in Malka Ganj immediately after receiving reports of the structural failure. Upon arrival, emergency responders found that the roof of the residential structure had caved in completely. The staircase leading up to the first floor of the house had also collapsed, cutting off the primary exit route for the residents inside.

Firefighters utilized safety belts and ladders to reach the stranded occupants on the first floor and evacuate them to safety. Among those successfully rescued from the damaged building was a 40-year-old woman with a physical disability, along with the five-month-old infant and the family's pet dog.

Visual evidence from the scene showed that while the outer walls of the residential structure remained standing, the entire roof had caved in. During the rescue operation, a DFS official was seen carrying the five-month-old baby to safety.

No casualties or injuries were reported following the collapse. Authorities stated that the exact cause of the structural failure in Malka Ganj is yet to be ascertained.
