Five Injured As Car Rams Residents After Dispute In Mayur Vihar Society

At least five people were injured on Sunday night after a speeding car rammed into residents and parked vehicles inside a residential housing society in Mayur Vihar, East Delhi. The incident, which took place at approximately 9:00 PM, escalated from a physical altercation that began when a non-resident man allegedly slapped a local child.

According to the Delhi Police, the confrontation started when an unidentified man and a woman, who were not residents of the housing society, were seen standing inside the premises. A few local children who were sitting on parked two-wheelers approached the duo to ask about their presence in the area.

"Some children asked the man and the woman who they were and why they were standing inside the society. During the exchange, the man allegedly slapped one of the children," a police officer stated regarding the initial dispute.

The alleged physical assault on the child triggered immediate tension inside the residential compound. Hearing of the incident, several local residents quickly gathered at the spot to confront the man. The argument soon escalated into a physical scuffle between the unidentified man and the angry residents.

As the situation grew more tense, the man contacted his associates for backup. Police reported that three to four of his associates arrived at the housing society shortly after in a car and joined the ongoing altercation.

With a growing crowd of residents assembling at the scene, the group of outsiders attempted to flee the premises in their vehicle. In their rush to escape, they drove the car at a high speed through the society grounds.

During the escape attempt, the speeding vehicle hit at least five people who were standing in the area. The car also crashed into several parked two-wheelers, damaging the vehicles before the group fled. The Delhi Police are currently investigating the clash and the subsequent hit-and-run incident.
