Financier, 4 Associates Arrested for Staging Fatal SUV Run-Over in Kanjhawala

Delhi Police have arrested a 45-year-old financier and four of his associates for allegedly murdering a 45-year-old man by running over him with an SUV and attempting to stage the incident as a road accident in Kanjhawala in northwest Delhi.
The victim, identified as Deepak, was a resident of Majra Dabas village. His body was found near Chandpur Majra Road on July 16 after police received a PCR call reporting a collision involving a Scorpio. Officers arriving at the scene discovered Deepak's body on the road, while his damaged scooty was found lying approximately 100 metres away.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Shashank Jaiswal, investigators determined that the incident was not a genuine road accident. Police uncovered that Deepak had survived an earlier attempt on his life two weeks prior, on July 2, when an unidentified white Hyundai i10 struck his scooty near Prem Pyau Road in Majra Dabas.
Investigators analysed CCTV footage from the area and traced the Hyundai i10 to one of the financier's associates, who was apprehended on July 17. During interrogation, the associate revealed the wider conspiracy and the involvement of the other accused. Both vehicles used in the attacks, the Scorpio and the Hyundai i10, were subsequently recovered by police.
Police stated that the main conspirator harboured an old grudge against Deepak, accusing him of harassing his sister. Prior to orchestrating the vehicular strikes, the financier had also opened fire outside the residence of Deepak's brother before planning the July 2 attack.
On July 16, the accused targeted Deepak by first hitting him with the SUV and then repeatedly running over him to ensure his death. The associates assisted the main conspirator in attempting to flee and destroy evidence. The financier was arrested on Wednesday and confessed to planning the earlier attacks and executing the fatal assault on July 16.
