Father Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting 12-Year-Old Daughter in Northeast Delhi

A man has been arrested in northeast Delhi for allegedly sexually assaulting his 12-year-old daughter, police said.

The incident came to light after the girl's mother approached the police and lodged a formal complaint. According to officials, the child had confided in her mother about the assault, prompting the family to seek police intervention.

Following the complaint, police officers spoke directly with the 12-year-old girl and recorded her official statement. Based on the child's account, police apprehended the father and took him in for questioning.

During interrogation, the accused father allegedly confessed to the crime, investigators stated. Police subsequently placed him under formal arrest.

The survivor was sent for a mandatory medical examination as part of the legal procedure. Authorities also informed the local Child Welfare Committee about the case to ensure necessary support and follow-up care for the child.

Police have registered a criminal case against the accused under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further legal proceedings are currently underway.
