Father and Associate Arrested for Murder of 38-Year-Old Son in Kalindi Kunj
Delhi Police have arrested a 68-year-old man and his 49-year-old associate for allegedly killing the man's 38-year-old son in Kalindi Kunj, officials said on Sunday. The victim, identified as Gul Hasan, suffered from mental health issues, including schizophrenia.
According to police, the murder occurred on August 22 inside an abandoned shipping container situated near the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, adjacent to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) boundary wall in Kalindi Kunj. Investigators said the father had meticulously planned the killing after several previous attempts failed.
Police stated that the father had earlier tried to attack his son with a weapon, but Hasan overpowered him. The father also made several unsuccessful attempts to push his son into the Yamuna river. Following those failures, he sought the assistance of his 49-year-old associate.
The two men allegedly lured Hasan to the abandoned container under the pretext of taking him to a doctor for treatment. Once inside, the associate allegedly struck Hasan on the head with a stone, and both suspects strangled him to death.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Vineet Kumar said the Kalindi Kunj police station received information at 7:13 a.m. on August 23 about the body of an unidentified man lying in a pool of blood inside the container. Officers reached the spot, found the victim with severe head injuries, and registered a murder case.
Investigators analysed CCTV footage from the surrounding area and traced the movement of the victim, who was seen walking toward the crime scene accompanied by two men. Police subsequently tracked the suspects to a stitching factory in Govindpuri, leading to their arrest and the identification of the victim.
Police said the father and his associate remain in custody as investigators continue questioning them to establish the full sequence of events and the exact motive behind the killing. The post-mortem report is currently awaited.
