Ex-Delhi Police Chief Satish Golcha Appointed Home Guards Director General

Senior IPS officer Satish Golcha, who previously served as the Delhi Police commissioner, is set to take over as the Director General of Home Guards, Delhi, starting October 1, according to an official order issued by the Delhi government.

Golcha, a 1992-batch AGMUT cadre officer, has been transferred and posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Directorate of Home Guards until the superannuation of the incumbent Director General, Virender Singh, a 1991-batch IPS officer, on September 30.

According to the order issued by the Home Department of the Delhi government, Delhi Police will retain Golcha on its strength until he formally assumes charge as Director General on October 1.

Golcha was succeeded as Delhi Police commissioner on July 17 by 1994-batch IPS officer Anurag Kumar. During his policing career, Golcha has held multiple senior administrative and operational posts across the capital and other regions.

He served as Director General of Police in Arunachal Pradesh between 2022 and 2023. Following his return to Delhi, he was appointed Special Commissioner of Police (Intelligence) and later served as Director General of Tihar Prisons before heading the Delhi Police force.

Earlier in his career, Golcha served as Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order, Zone 2), headed the Delhi Crime Branch, and led several police ranges across the capital.

The Home Guards organisation operates to support the civil administration and police across Delhi in maintaining law and order, managing traffic, and assisting during emergencies and disasters.
