Endeavour crash near Jharsa Chowk causes four-kilometer jam on expressway

A speeding Endeavour SUV suffered a sudden breakdown and crashed into a Tata Magic vehicle near Jharsa Chowk on the Delhi–Gurgaon expressway on Thursday, triggering a massive four-kilometer-long traffic jam. The incident, which occurred at around 1:30 PM, left hundreds of commuters stranded on the busy stretch for nearly an hour.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the white Endeavour SUV experienced a sudden mechanical breakdown while travelling on the expressway. The driver subsequently lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Tata Magic that was moving ahead of it.

The force of the impact severely damaged the front portion of the Endeavour SUV. Following the collision, the damaged vehicle came to a complete halt in the middle of the road, immediately disrupting the flow of traffic on the busy expressway.

Local police officials reported that the deployment of the SUV's airbags prevented any major casualties in the accident. Both drivers escaped serious injury despite the significant damage to the front of the SUV.

However, the stationary vehicle in the middle of the expressway quickly caused a severe bottleneck. Within minutes of the crash, hundreds of vehicles were stranded in a traffic jam that stretched for nearly four kilometers. Commuters remained stuck in the congestion until local traffic personnel intervened.

After about an hour of gridlock, authorities deployed a crane to the spot to remove the damaged Endeavour from the expressway and restore smooth traffic movement.

Inspector Manoj Kumar, SHO Traffic-II, confirmed the details of the incident and the subsequent response. He stated that the accident occurred because the SUV suddenly broke down. He added that the traffic police team reached the spot immediately, but removing the damaged vehicle from the road took some time, which caused the traffic congestion.
