ED attaches Rs 158.37 crore assets of Rockland Hospitals in Delhi fraud case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached immovable properties worth approximately ₹158.37 crore in Delhi in connection with an ongoing money laundering and financial fraud probe. The federal agency announced the attachment on July 15, 2026, targeting assets linked to Rockland Hospitals Limited and its promoters.

The money laundering investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO). The SFIO had previously approached a special Delhi court to file the complaint under the Companies Act, alleging a large-scale financial fraud within the hospital administration.

According to the ED, the investigation pertains to a systematic scheme of siphoning funds from Rockland Hospitals Limited. The agency alleged that the promoters of the hospital group actively diverted substantial amounts of money from the company’s accounts.

The probe revealed a two-pronged strategy used by the promoters to siphon off the funds. In the first instance, the accused allegedly generated fake implant invoices amounting to ₹76.03 crore. This part of the operation was carried out using a network of 71 different companies to create a paper trail of fictitious transactions.

In the second instance, the promoters allegedly inflated the construction costs of the hospital. The ED stated that the construction expenses were artificially inflated by ₹82.34 crore. This manipulation was executed through a related business entity, Somya Constructions Private Limited.

To hide the origin of these diverted funds, the accused reportedly employed accommodation entry operators and shell entities. The ED stated that these entities were used to conceal the illicit nature of the money and project the proceeds as untainted assets.

Following the detailed tracing of these financial transactions, the ED quantified the total proceeds of crime generated by the promoters at ₹158.37 crore. The provisional attachment of the immovable properties equivalent to this value represents a major step in the ongoing legal proceedings against Rockland Hospitals Limited, its promoters, and Somya Constructions Private Limited.
