DU Student Stabbed to Death in West Delhi's Tilak Nagar, Police Search for Accused

A 21-year-old Delhi University student was stabbed to death at her residence in West Delhi's Tilak Nagar on Wednesday night, August 26, 2026. Police suspect an acquaintance who allegedly attacked her following an argument, officials stated on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as 26-year-old Imran, who is currently absconding. Delhi Police have formed around 15 teams to locate and arrest him.

The victim, identified as Muskan, was a second-year student at Delhi University’s School of Open Learning. She lived with her mother, two sisters, and brother in a building located near Mangla Hospital in Tilak Nagar.

According to police, the matter came to light after the Tilak Nagar police station received a call at approximately 7:24 p.m. on August 26 regarding the stabbing of a woman. When police officials reached the spot, Muskan had already been transported to Amar Leela Hospital in Janakpuri, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Following the incident, a murder case was registered, and an investigation was launched.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Muskan and Imran had been in a relationship for around one-and-a-half years, which had reportedly turned sour in recent months. Investigators suspect that Imran had been angry with her for about two months over suspicions that she was speaking to another person.

Police said that Imran, a former gym trainer who is currently unemployed, went to Muskan’s home on Wednesday evening when she was alone. An argument broke out between the two, after which Imran allegedly attacked her multiple times with a knife before fleeing the scene.

Police records show that Imran was previously booked in 2021 for an attempt to commit culpable homicide under Section 308 of the Indian Penal Code. Efforts remain underway to trace and apprehend him.
