DMRC Warns Social Media Creators Against Sticking Phones on Moving Metro Windows

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has issued an official warning prohibiting social media influencers and content creators from sticking mobile phones onto the windows of moving trains to record videos across the Delhi Metro network.

The transport authority issued the advisory on Instagram after a series of viral clips flooded platforms such as Instagram Reels. DMRC warned creators that filming such content is prohibited on Metro premises and stated that any offenders caught indulging in the act will face necessary action.

In its official statement, the DMRC noted that creators have been pasting their phones directly onto the glass of train coaches to film footage alongside moving trains. Officials highlighted that the practice poses safety risks, noting that the act can cause inconvenience or injury to other commuters and can result in damage to the mobile devices.

The online trend originally started overseas before spreading to content creators in India. Participants attach a mobile phone to a Metro coach window, often utilizing suction mounts to secure the device to the exterior glass.

Many of the videos feature creators dancing or posing on the platform before dramatically sprinting after the departing train to create the impression that they left their phone behind. In other instances, individuals stick the phone out of the window while remaining inside the train, with a second person holding onto the device to safely retrieve it later.

The trend gained massive traction after a video made by a local creator amassed more than 135 million views, prompting a wave of duplicate videos recorded at stations across the network. DMRC authorities stated that they are viewing the matter with all seriousness and formally directed content creators to cease filming such videos within Delhi Metro premises.
