Diljit Dosanjh Backs CJP Student Protesters After Delhi Parliament March Clashes
Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has extended his support to student protesters associated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) following a police crackdown during their Parliament march in New Delhi. The clashes and subsequent crackdown on the students occurred on Monday, prompting the artist to release a public statement the following day.
In a statement posted on his Instagram Story on Tuesday, Dosanjh expressed deep concern over the treatment of the student demonstrators by Delhi authorities. He urged the administration to engage with the protesters and address their grievances directly rather than resorting to force.
"Aj Jo hoyea Baut Maada Hoyea.. Students Naal Edan Treat Nhi Hona Chaida c," Dosanjh wrote in his post, stating that what happened was very bad and that students should not have been treated in such a manner.
He went on to appeal directly to the officials involved in managing the protest. "Mai Authorities Nu Request Karda Ke Students Dian Demands Nu sunn Leya Javey.. Lokan Di Avaaz Rab Di Avaaz Hundi Aa," he added, requesting the authorities to listen to the demands of the students and emphasizing that the voice of the people is the voice of God.
In his social media post, the singer-actor also reflected on the personal and legal challenges he has encountered due to his previous advocacy for public movements. He specifically referenced the backlash he received after supporting the Kisan Protest, noting that his public stances have led to significant personal difficulties.
"Mere Te Already Anti Nationalist Da Tag Baut Vaar Lagg Chuka.. Hun V Mainu Anti-nationalist Keha Jaega," Dosanjh stated, explaining that he has already been labeled an "anti-nationalist" multiple times and expects to face the same label again for speaking out in support of the CJP students.
He further revealed that his past support for demonstrations has resulted in ongoing complications. "After Kisan Protest.. I faced a Lot of Backlash & Legal Problems which I can't Even Discuss," he wrote.
Dosanjh concluded his message with a note of faith, writing, "BAKI RAB SAB DEKH REHA, BABA BHALI KARU," indicating that God is watching everything and will bring about a good outcome.
