Dentist Arrested in Mount Kailash for Allegedly Killing Domestic Help With Bat and Knife

A 54-year-old dentist was arrested and remanded to two-day police custody by a Delhi court for allegedly murdering his 45-year-old domestic help, Meena, at his residence in upscale Mount Kailash, New Delhi. The incident occurred on Thursday morning after the accused allegedly battered the victim with a bat and stabbed her multiple times with a knife.

The accused, identified as Dr. Manish Gupta, runs his own dental clinic near his house in Kailash Hills. According to the Delhi Police, the victim had been working as a domestic help at the doctor's house for the past 10 years.

Following the arrest, the doctor's wife, Tina, told police that Dr. Gupta had been requesting her to fire Meena for two to three years because he felt she was not cleaning the house properly. Tina said she refused to fire her, but her husband had not previously made a fuss about it. Police stated that Dr. Gupta was also on antidepressants.

On Thursday morning, Dr. Gupta allegedly followed Meena to the rooftop of his third-floor house while she was going to hang washed clothes for sun-drying. In a room adjacent to the rooftop, he allegedly hit her with a bat, causing her to fall to the ground, and then stabbed her multiple times with a knife.

The incident came to light at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Thursday when the Amar Colony police station received a call from a neighbor who reported finding a body soaked in blood.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari stated that when police officers arrived at the spot, they found Dr. Gupta squatting near the body. The accused admitted to hitting the victim with a bat and later stabbing her with a knife. During questioning, the doctor reportedly told officers that the victim "brought bad energy" to the house. Police are currently investigating if the doctor has any prior history of violence.
