Delhi Traffic Police Promotes Road Safety With Raksha Bandhan Campaign

Delhi Traffic Police launched a special road-safety initiative across the city, including east Delhi, using the occasion of Raksha Bandhan to encourage motorists to follow basic traffic regulations.

Under the campaign titled “Rakhi Ka Waada, Suraksha Ka Iraada”, traffic personnel acknowledged and appreciated commuters who followed traffic rules on the road. As part of the drive, female traffic personnel tied rakhis to responsible commuters as a symbolic gesture emphasizing safety, protection, and mutual care on the roads.

In east Delhi, traffic personnel engaged with motorists directly by counselling them on road safety practices and handing out flowers to several road users. The initiative focused on reminding motorists that obeying rules is fundamentally about safeguarding their own lives and the lives of others sharing the road.

The awareness drive emphasized several critical traffic rules, including wearing helmets, fastening seat belts, obeying traffic signals, and avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving.

Officials underscored that basic measures such as wearing a helmet or buckling a seat belt are not merely statutory rules, but essential safety precautions that help ensure commuters return home safely to their families after traveling.
