Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory for Janmashtami at Narela Temple
The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory for commuters in Narela ahead of Janmashtami celebrations at the Khatu Shyam Delhi Dham Temple. The advisory has been put in place to ensure smooth traffic movement and public safety as large gatherings of devotees are anticipated to visit the shrine.
The regulatory measures and diversions will remain operational from 7:00 AM on September 4, 2026, until 1:00 AM on September 5, 2026. Heavy pedestrian footfall surrounding the temple complex is expected to slow down traffic significantly, particularly along the busy National Highway 44 stretch extending between Singhu Border and Mukarba Chowk.
Commuters have been urged to avoid the Singhu Border to Mukarba Chowk section of NH-44 during this period as far as possible. To ease vehicular pressure and bypass congestion, motorists have been advised to take alternative corridors, including the Urban Extension Road II (UER-II) and the Palla-Bakhtawarpur Road.
Depending on ground conditions, traffic diversions may be activated at key intersections. These diversion locations include Singhu Border, Bakoli on UER-II, and Mukarba Chowk. Dedicated traffic personnel will be stationed across these points to regulate the movement of vehicles and direct motorists onto alternative routes.
Police officials have also issued a strict appeal against roadside parking. Devotees and commuters have been warned that obstructive and unauthorized parking on roadsides will exacerbate gridlock in the area. Motorists navigating through northern Delhi have been asked to plan journeys ahead of time, pay close attention to diversion signage, and cooperate with personnel on duty.
Special provisions have been outlined for emergency services. Vehicles engaged in emergency duties will be granted unimpeded passage through the area, utilizing dedicated bypass routes wherever feasible to prevent any operational delays.
Authorities noted that the measures are designed to balance religious festivities with routine commuter flow. The public has been advised to monitor real-time updates through the Delhi Traffic Police website, official social media accounts, dedicated traffic helplines, and its WhatsApp service.
