Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory For BRICS Rehearsal Diversions on Sept 2
Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory announcing traffic diversions and regulated vehicular movement across key routes on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The measures are being put in place for a motorcade rehearsal ahead of the BRICS Summit 2026, which is scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam between September 11 and 13.
According to the advisory, commuters travelling from Gurugram to the airport terminals have been allocated specific routes during the five-hour rehearsal window. Passengers heading from Gurugram to terminals T2, T3, and T4 have been advised to travel via the National Highway-48 (NH-48), Rao Gairai Singh Marg, Old Delhi Gurugram Road, Urban Extension Road II (UER II), the Service Road, and T3 Terminal Road. For Terminal 1, commuters can travel via NH-48, under the Mahipalpur Flyover, and T-3 Road, or alternatively via NH-48, Mahipalpur Flyover, NH-48, Ulan Batar Marg, and T-1 Road. Police strongly advised commuters to opt for the metro for airport travel where possible.
Key roads in central Delhi that will be directly affected by diversions include Sardar Patel Marg, Moti Lal Nehru Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Tees January Marg, and Rajesh Pilot Marg.
For passengers heading to New Delhi Railway Station, alternate routes have been mapped via ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Ashram Chowk, Ring Road, Raj Ghat, JLN Marg, Vande Mataram Marg, and Outer Circle, Connaught Place. Commuters heading to Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station have been advised to use routes via AIIMS, Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, and Mathura Road, or via ISBT Kashmiri Gate and Raj Ghat.
Delhi Traffic Police stated that emergency and essential-service vehicles will receive priority and obstruction-free passage across all zones. Metro services will remain fully operational at all stations throughout the rehearsal period, though bus routes, taxis, and auto-rickshaws may experience temporary diversions. Roadside parking within 200 meters of controlled roads is strictly prohibited, and non-destined commercial vehicles will not be permitted to enter Delhi during the designated hours.
