Delhi to Launch Weekend Traffic Courts Across Seven District Court Complexes

The Delhi District Courts, in coordination with the Delhi Traffic Police, will officially begin the functioning of Weekend Traffic Courts across the national capital starting July 5, 2026. This joint initiative is designed to expedite the disposal of thousands of pending compoundable traffic challans that have accumulated over time.

To handle the high volume of cases, a total of 22 benches will operate across seven district court complexes in Delhi. These benches will focus on clearing the pending traffic notices that are currently lying unresolved before the Virtual Court system. Each of the 22 designated benches is scheduled to hear up to 700 compoundable challans during every sitting.

In an effort to ensure equitable access to this clearance drive for all citizens, the organizers have established specific limits on the process. Under these guidelines, a single vehicle may have up to 20 eligible traffic challans taken up for disposal through this weekend court mechanism.

The newly established Weekend Traffic Courts will function on the second Saturday and all Sundays of each month. The courts will operate during two specific time slots on these days, running from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the morning, and resuming from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the afternoon.

Citizens who wish to resolve their pending cases can download their challans through the official Delhi Traffic Police portal. The download facility was opened to the public starting June 25, 2026.

Once downloaded, these notices must be presented by the vehicle owners or representatives before the designated courts during the active weekend hours. The court benches will then process and dispose of the challans in accordance with due legal procedure.
