Delhi Swine Flu Tally Reaches 2,612 as City Records 166 Fresh H1N1 Cases

Delhi's H1N1 tally rose to 2,612 after 166 fresh swine flu cases were recorded in a 24-hour span, according to official Delhi government data. Total Influenza-A cases across the capital have reached 3,300.

In response to the rising caseload of H1N1 and seasonal influenza, Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh visited Indira Gandhi Hospital on Thursday to inspect healthcare readiness and review the management protocols in place.

During the inspection, Singh evaluated key facilities, including the availability of isolation beds, emergency response capabilities, diagnostic testing infrastructure, stocks of essential medicines, and the deployment of medical personnel.

Officials confirmed that a dedicated flu clinic is now operational at Indira Gandhi Hospital, along with designated isolation beds for influenza patients who require admission and specialized care.

The health minister's site visit followed directives issued a day earlier instructing all Delhi government-run hospitals to reinforce emergency services. Under these instructions, hospitals are required to maintain at least five isolation beds, while larger medical facilities must reserve 10 or more beds specifically for influenza and vector-borne disease cases.
