Delhi Records 98.7mm Rain in 24 Hours, Wettest August Day in 2 Years

Delhi recorded 98.7 mm of rainfall between 8:30 am on Friday and 8:30 am on Saturday, marking the city's wettest 24-hour period in August in two years. Showers continued across parts of the city throughout the day on Saturday following the morning measurement.

The rainfall logged over the 24-hour window represents the highest single-day precipitation recorded in August since August 1, 2024, when Delhi received 107.6 mm of rain.

Despite the rain, the heat index, or "feels-like temperature," increased to 44.7°C at 2:30 pm on Saturday. This marked a temperature shift from earlier in the week, when maximum temperatures had remained below 30°C for two consecutive days, logging 27.6°C on Thursday and 27.5°C on Friday.

More showers are expected over the next week, with forecasts indicating chances of very light to light rain continuing from Sunday through August 14.
