Delhi Police Sub-Inspector Dies by Suicide Inside Madhu Vihar Police Station

A Delhi Police sub-inspector died by suicide after allegedly shooting himself with his service pistol inside the premises of the Madhu Vihar Police Station in New Delhi. The fatal incident occurred inside a room at the station at around 12:20 PM.

The deceased officer was identified as Somesh, a sub-inspector who had joined the Delhi Police force in 2019. Somesh was posted at the Madhu Vihar Police Station and lived with his wife in Siddharth Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, Somesh had met with the Station House Officer (SHO) earlier in the day. During their interaction, he informed the SHO that he was leaving the police station to attend to court duty. However, police records indicate that he never actually reached the court.

The situation came to light at around 12:20 PM when Somesh allegedly shot himself in the head with his service pistol inside a room at the police station. He was subsequently found with a severe gunshot injury.

Following the incident, senior police officers and a team of forensic experts arrived at the Madhu Vihar Police Station to secure the scene and initiate a thorough investigation. The body of the sub-inspector was later taken away for a postmortem examination.

Investigators confirmed that no suicide note was recovered from the room where the shooting took place. Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances that led to the officer's death.

A police officer disclosed that Somesh’s wife claimed he had been suffering from some kind of depression. While the police are actively examining all aspects of the case, officials have stated that no foul play is suspected so far in the incident.
