Delhi Police Step Up Security After Email Warns of Khalistani Terror Threat

Intelligence agencies and the Delhi Police have issued a high-security alert across Delhi and Uttarakhand following a possible Khalistani terror threat targeting key religious sites, government establishments, and railway stations. The alert, reported on June 27, 2026, was triggered after an email surfaced warning of potential attacks in the coming days.
The threatening email reportedly named several temples in Delhi and Uttarakhand, alongside government offices, police installations, railway stations, and certain political leaders. In response, Delhi Police, Uttarakhand Police, and Central intelligence agencies have intensified surveillance and stepped up patrols at high-footfall and sensitive locations.
The security alert comes amid recent tensions in neighboring Uttarakhand. A three-day standoff occurred at the Nagrasu gurdwara in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district between a group of Nihang Sikhs and local authorities. The Nihangs were demanding the release of four members arrested after a clash with locals in the Karnaprayag market on June 16, 2026. That standoff resolved on June 23, 2026, following the intervention of a Sikh delegation.
However, on the night of June 25, 2026, another group of Nihang Sikhs forcibly entered Uttarakhand through the Kulhal border in Dehradun district, which adjoins Himachal Pradesh, repeating demands for the release of the arrested men. Authorities successfully persuaded them to return to Paonta Sahib.
Following the latest email threat, security forces have increased deployment at key religious places, transport hubs, and government buildings. Local police units in Delhi have been instructed to maintain high vigilance and conduct regular patrols.
Delhi Police have also launched an investigation into the email to trace its origin and verify its authenticity. Cyber experts are currently analyzing the digital trail of the message to determine whether the threat is credible or a hoax. Officials noted that while no specific details regarding the timing or exact locations of a potential attack have emerged, preventive measures are being strictly enforced due to the seriousness of the alert.
