Delhi Police Special Cell Arrests Two Gogi Gang Aides Near Munak Canal

The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested two alleged sympathisers of the Gogi gang near Munak Canal on August 19, stating that the duo was planning extortion-related crimes in the city.

The arrested individuals were identified as 22-year-old Chirag, a resident of Narela, and 26-year-old Sagar, from Sonipat. According to the police, the two suspects were intercepted and apprehended near Munak Canal following a specific tip-off.

During the operation, police seized illegal weapons and communication devices from their possession. A senior police officer said that officers recovered a .32-bore semi-automatic pistol loaded with four live cartridges, a country-made single-shot pistol, and two mobile phones.

Police said that Chirag was also wanted in connection with a violent robbery in the Narela Industrial Area dating back to February. In that incident, an RO water supplier and his driver were assaulted and robbed. Chirag and an accomplice had rammed the victim’s car, attacked the two men with stones and sticks, and fled the scene with a gold chain and Rs 40,000.

During sustained interrogation, Chirag disclosed that he was recruited into the syndicate by a supporter of the Gogi gang. Sagar revealed to investigators that he joined the criminal network through another gang member in 2021.

Following the recovery of the firearms and the arrests, the police have registered a case against the accused under the Arms Act.
