Delhi Police Rescue Kidnapped 3-Year-Old Boy from Bihar's Munger District

A three-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped from Guru Gobind Singh (GGS) Hospital in west Delhi's Khyala has been safely rescued from Munger district in Bihar after Delhi Police tracked the suspect across more than 1,000 kilometres.

According to police, the incident took place on August 27 when the child went missing while playing on the hospital premises. His mother had stepped away to collect medicines when the boy was allegedly taken away by an unidentified woman.

The police received a PCR call reporting the child's disappearance at 12:07 pm. Following the call, the Khyala police station registered a case and initiated an intensive search operation to locate the missing boy.

Investigators examined CCTV footage from cameras installed inside the hospital and across surrounding areas to trace the suspect. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Hareshwar V Swami stated that the footage captured an unidentified woman carrying the boy away from the location.

By scanning recordings from multiple security cameras along the escape route, police officers tracked the woman's movements as she boarded an e-rickshaw and travelled towards Madipur in west Delhi. Further investigation helped police identify the suspect as 31-year-old Chunari Devi, a native of Bihar who was residing temporarily in Madipur.

Local inquiries conducted in the area revealed that Devi had departed Delhi for her native state shortly after the incident. Relying on technical surveillance and inputs from local intelligence, a dedicated Delhi Police team followed her trail over a distance of more than 1,000 kilometres.

The police team reached Asnaha village located in Bihar's Munger district, where they successfully traced the woman and safely recovered the three-year-old boy. Following the recovery, Devi was traced and joined the police investigation into the kidnapping.
