Delhi Police Plan Action Over Abusive Online Posts Targeting PM Modi After CJP Protest

Delhi Police are considering legal action against social media posts deemed objectionable and abusive towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other political leaders during a protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

According to police sources, authorities are likely to issue formal notices directing social media platforms to remove videos, comments, and posts considered abusive. The Delhi Police's Social Media Monitoring Team has been continuously monitoring online platforms to identify content connected to the demonstration.

A police source stated that after a full review of content uploaded during and after the protest, notices will be issued to pull down posts that are abusive in nature. Officials confirmed that an exercise to identify such content across multiple social media platforms is currently underway.

Police are also evaluating whether any of the online posts violated existing statutory laws or had the potential to disturb public order.

The CJP demonstration at Jantar Mantar was organized by supporters protesting against examination irregularities. Following assurances from the Centre to the Cockroach Janta Party, Delhi Police are awaiting official approval to withdraw First Information Reports (FIRs) previously filed against the protesters.
