Delhi Police Issue Advisory Over Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Restrictions

The Delhi Traffic Police on Thursday issued an advisory alerting commuters to temporary closures and restrictions on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. Motorists approaching the expressway from the Vikas Marg and Akshardham sides were advised to take alternate routes for some time to avoid anticipated delays and heavy vehicular congestion.
According to the traffic police, the advisory was issued at around noon on August 20 to prevent inconvenience to commuters and avoid further traffic congestion in the area. Officials noted that the temporary restrictions on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway required vehicles approaching from key connecting stretches to be redirected.
In an official alert, the Delhi Traffic Police noted: "Due to temporary closure/restriction on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, commuters approaching the expressway from Vikas Marg and Akshardham side are advised to use alternate routes for some time."
To handle the resulting traffic pressure and prevent gridlock, traffic police personnel were deployed at key points along the affected routes. The deployed staff were tasked with managing the situation on the ground, guiding commuters, and executing vehicular diversions wherever required.
The traffic police requested that commuters fully cooperate with officials on duty and plan their journeys accordingly to minimize travel disruption. Motorists travelling towards the expressway from the Vikas Marg and Akshardham areas were urged to check traffic conditions before beginning their transit and to budget additional time for their journeys.
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is a major transport artery connecting the national capital with western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Because of the heavy volume of transit along this route, any closure or restriction on the stretch can significantly impact traffic movement across surrounding connecting roads, especially during busy hours of the day.
