Delhi Police Investigate Road Rage Clash Near Dwarka Expressway Tunnel

The Delhi Police have launched an investigation into a road rage incident near the Dwarka Expressway Tunnel in Delhi, where a taxi driver armed with a wooden rod allegedly confronted another motorist on Monday evening, July 7. The confrontation, which occurred at approximately 7:44 PM, was captured on video and widely shared on social media, prompting police action.
According to police officials, the incident began following a minor collision between a WagonR and a white Maruti Ertiga taxi. The driver of the WagonR subsequently made a PCR call to report the altercation.
The caller alleged that after the collision, the Ertiga taxi driver attempted to assault him with a wooden stick. In self-defence, the WagonR driver reportedly pushed the taxi driver, who then fell against a parked Kia Seltos.
The fall caused minor damage to the Kia Seltos. The owner of the Kia Seltos stopped the WagonR driver to seek compensation for the damage, while the taxi driver allegedly fled the scene before police arrived.
PCR personnel dispatched to the spot were informed by the caller that the taxi driver had already left. The WagonR driver and the owner of the Kia Seltos subsequently resolved the matter of the vehicle damage mutually on-site.
The caller later informed the police that he had returned home and did not wish to pursue any legal action as the matter was settled.
Despite the caller's decision not to file a formal complaint, the Delhi Police are continuing their investigation after the video of the confrontation went viral online. In the footage, the taxi driver is seen holding a wooden rod, grabbing the WagonR driver by the collar, and shouting.
Police officers stated that efforts are underway to trace the caller and examine CCTV footage from the area. This footage will be used to verify the sequence of events and ascertain the identity of the fleeing taxi driver.
