Delhi Police Detain Drug Trafficker Dharamveer Singh in Fateh Nagar Under PITNDPS Act

Delhi Police have apprehended and detained a 51-year-old drug trafficker, identified as Dharamveer Singh, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act. The suspect was picked up from Fateh Nagar in West Delhi as part of an effort to disrupt the regional narcotics supply chain.

Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) HGS Dhaliwal stated that the detaining authority issued the detention order based on a proposal submitted by Delhi Police. The Crime Branch had recently prepared the proposal for Singh's preventive detention and forwarded it to the PITNDPS division of the Ministry of Finance. The order was issued after evaluating Singh’s active and repeated involvement in drug trafficking.

Following his apprehension in Fateh Nagar in accordance with the detention order, Singh is being shifted to the central jail in Puzhal, Chennai, under the provisions of the PITNDPS Act.

Police disclosed that Singh has been involved in nine criminal cases over the years. According to law enforcement officers, his involvement in illegal activities began after his wedding in 1994, when he started supplying ganja across Delhi.

To conceal his drug trafficking activities, Singh set up a cable operator business in Inderpuri. Despite using the business as a cover, he was previously arrested by the narcotics cell in 2006.
