Delhi Police Deploys 1,600 Personnel in South Delhi Ahead of August 15

Ahead of Independence Day on August 15, the Delhi Police has intensified security measures across the national capital, deploying more than 1,600 police personnel in South Delhi to prevent untoward incidents and maintain public safety.

As part of the heightened security protocol, law enforcement agencies have stepped up street patrolling, vehicle inspections, and drone surveillance. Police personnel across various districts have been deployed on the streets with a targeted focus on monitoring suspicious individuals, checking vehicles, tracking criminal elements, and securing sensitive locations.

Joint Commissioner of Police for the Southern Range, Vijay Kumar, confirmed that over 1,600 personnel, including women police officers, have been deployed across the southern zone. To monitor movement into and within the area, police have established around 60 pickets, which include border pickets as well as major and minor checkpoints.

Additional pickets and checking stations have been placed at key locations across South Delhi. Officers stationed at these locations are conducting active checks on suspicious individuals and inspecting vehicles passing through the pickets.

Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal stated that officers of all ranks are directly participating in ground operations and patrols during this high-vigilance period. Mittal noted that officers across all ranks are out on the ground patrolling due to the heightened sensitivity surrounding the August 15 celebrations, emphasizing that the checking operations are being carried out with a strong focus on security.

With Independence Day celebrations just days away, police personnel remain stationed across South Delhi streets, border checkpoints, and sensitive zones to maintain strict surveillance and complete security drives.
