Delhi Police Deploy 2000 Officers for Cockroach Janta Party Protest at Jantar Mantar

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the Delhi Police deployed approximately 2,000 personnel and heightened security across the New Delhi district, focusing on Jantar Mantar, ahead of a planned youth protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party.
The demonstration, organized by supporters of the online satirical platform, was called to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke was scheduled to land in Delhi from Boston on Saturday morning to lead the protest.
To manage the situation, the police divided the New Delhi district into 12 separate zones, with a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) heading each zone. Security has also been strengthened outside the residences of several high-profile officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Education Minister Pradhan.
According to internal police communications, deployed personnel have been instructed to avoid confrontation and instead use persuasion to keep the protesters calm. Police departments in the North, Central, Southeast, and Southwest districts were also asked to facilitate the smooth travel of students heading to the protest.
Although the CJP had not officially secured permission for the protest by Friday night, police sources indicated they were open to granting it on Saturday morning upon receiving a proper undertaking. Officers have been directed to use drone surveillance, photography, and videography to monitor the protest sites.
Dipke, who was expected to land at 8 a.m., planned to travel directly from the airport to the Parliament Street police station to seek permission, accompanied by activist Sonam Wangchuk and other colleagues.
In preparation, CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka issued a list of guidelines for participants to ensure the demonstration remained peaceful. Protesters were advised to carry the national flag and a book, offer flowers to police officers, and avoid engaging with provocateurs.
