Delhi Police Constable Rescues 16-Year-Old Girl at Hauz Khas Metro Station

A woman constable of the Delhi Police Metro Unit saved the life of a 16-year-old girl who allegedly attempted to jump onto the tracks at Hauz Khas Metro Station, a police official confirmed on Monday.

The incident took place on August 22 while Constable Nikita was on patrol duty at the metro station. She spotted the teenager moving towards the platform tracks with an apparent intention to end her life.

Constable Nikita intervened immediately and restrained the minor, even as the teenager repeatedly attempted to head toward the tracks.

With assistance from other station staff, the girl was safely escorted to the Yellow Line Station Control Room. Once there, the teenager shared contact information that allowed police personnel to reach out to her family.

The girl's father subsequently arrived at the control room. Police identified the minor as a resident of Sector 5 in R K Puram.

During subsequent inquiries, police discovered that the teenager had been receiving treatment for a mental health-related condition at RML Hospital for nearly a year and had previously attempted to harm herself.
