Delhi Police Constable Allegedly Shoots Wife Priyanka Dead in Kalyanpuri

A Delhi Police constable allegedly shot and killed his 26-year-old schoolteacher wife on the roadside in East Delhi's Kalyanpuri area during the early hours of Monday. The fatal shooting occurred after a verbal altercation broke out between the couple while they were riding a scooter through the Kalyanpuri locality.

The accused has been identified as Manish Bhati, a Delhi Police constable who was recently posted with the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) in East Delhi. The victim, his wife Priyanka, worked as a schoolteacher. Tragically, the day of the incident, Monday, was also Priyanka's 26th birthday.

According to eyewitnesses, the couple was riding a scooter in the Kalyanpuri area when a heated argument began between them. Bhati stopped the scooter, and both of them got off the vehicle while continuing their verbal altercation. The confrontation escalated further on the road, leading Bhati to allegedly open fire on his wife. After firing the shots, Bhati left her on the road and fled the scene.

The incident came to light after a passerby, who was working as a delivery executive, spotted the woman's body lying by the roadside. The delivery executive rushed the injured woman to the Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital in East Delhi. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Priyanka died from her injuries during the course of her treatment at the hospital.

Following the incident, the Delhi Police registered a case and sent Priyanka's body for a post-mortem examination. A search operation is currently underway as police teams attempt to trace and arrest the fleeing accused constable, Manish Bhati, who remains at large.
