Delhi Police Candidate Dies After Collapsing During Endurance Test in Wazirabad
A 23-year-old Delhi Police recruitment candidate died after collapsing during a physical endurance test race at the Delhi Police Academy in Wazirabad on Monday morning. The candidate was identified by authorities as Saurav Kumar, a resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place during the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test conducted at the academy grounds. Kumar was participating in the running component of the selection process and had completed three laps of the track before experiencing physical distress.
According to police officials, Kumar complained of discomfort at approximately 9:09 a.m. He then stepped away from the active running track and moved to the side, where several other candidates were seated.
Moments after moving to the side, Kumar suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness. Police staff present at the venue immediately raised an alarm, alerting the medical team and summoning an ambulance stationed on site.
Medical personnel administered cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation to Kumar before rushing him to the nearest hospital. Upon arrival, attending doctors declared him brought dead.
Kumar's body was sent to GTB Hospital for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. Police confirmed that his family has been informed of the incident, and necessary proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita have been initiated as further inquiry continues.
