Delhi Police Arrest Two Shooters in Najafgarh Businessman Firing Case

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested two shooters in connection with an attempt on the life of a businessman in southwest Delhi's Najafgarh area. The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday near Bajeetpur Crossing on Bawana-Kanjhawala Road following technical surveillance and intelligence inputs.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Harshdeep Singh, 22, from Ludhiana, and Harmanjit Singh, 23, from Amritsar. Police recovered two semi-automatic pistols and seven live cartridges from their possession during the operation.
According to investigators, the plot to target businessman Umed Singh was hatched by UK-based gangster Kapil Sangwan, alias Nandu, and coordinated by Canada-based gangster Gopi Lahoria. The two shooters opened fire outside Umed Singh’s house in Najafgarh on August 16 before carrying out another shooting in Ludhiana the following day.
Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) HGS Dhaliwal stated that the duo was recruited through Instagram and promised financial compensation to execute the attack. The case was formally transferred to the Crime Branch after initial findings indicated the involvement of an organised crime syndicate.
During questioning, Harshdeep revealed to investigators that the assignment had been handed to him by Lahoria, who is believed to be operating from Canada and has links to the Bambiha gang.
