Delhi Police Arrest Two Receivers in Jangpura Murder Case, Main Suspect at Large

Delhi Police have arrested two men in connection with the robbery and murder of a 69-year-old woman at her residence in southeast Delhi’s Jangpura Extension. The two individuals were apprehended for allegedly receiving stolen valuables from the crime, while the primary suspect who carried out the robbery and murder remains at large and is suspected to have fled Delhi.

According to police, the two arrested men purchased the victim's stolen jewellery and mobile phone from the main suspect. Investigators traced the stolen articles, established the links between the buyers and the suspected killer, and recovered the items from their possession. Both individuals are currently being questioned by investigators.

The victim, identified as Kumar, was found dead inside her home around 8 a.m. on Friday by her elder daughter, Vijaita, who had stopped by the house before picking up her daughter from school. Kumar's hands were tied behind her back with a bedsheet, and blood was found around her mouth. A pillow was discovered near the bed, leading her family to suspect that she was smothered.

CCTV footage gathered by investigators showed the main suspect entering the lane at approximately 3:15 a.m. He allegedly scaled a small grill, latched the front doors of three neighbouring houses from the outside, and then entered Kumar's residence.

Police suspect that the accused watched Kumar’s daily schedule before targeting her. Relatives stated that Kumar regularly woke up around 3 a.m. and stepped outside the house as part of her daily prayer routine. Investigators believe the accused noticed that her front door was opened around the same time each morning and used this knowledge to gain entry into the premises.

Additional CCTV footage captured the suspect leaving the lane around 4 a.m. carrying a bag. He then scaled the boundary wall of a nearby park and fled the area. Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the absconding suspect.
