Delhi Police Arrest Two Men and Seize Six Pistols at Dhaula Kuan

Delhi Police has busted an interstate arms-smuggling racket following the arrest of two men and the seizure of six country-made pistols and 10 cartridges near Dhaula Kuan Ring Road. The operation was launched after law enforcement teams received a specific tip-off regarding the scheduled delivery of an illegal weapons consignment in the city.

Acting on the information, police personnel laid a trap at Dhaula Kuan Ring Road and apprehended a suspect identified as Honey Nihal. Nihal, a resident of Chirauri village in Ghaziabad, was intercepted while transporting the illicit firearms.

Investigators stated that Nihal had been tasked by an alleged habitual illegal arms dealer, Jatin Bhati, to collect the weapons from Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh. To bring the consignment into Delhi, Nihal allegedly travelled back from Madhya Pradesh aboard two buses before arriving at the drop-off location.

"Honey Nihal from Chirauri village in Ghaziabad went to Madhya Pradesh to procure the weapons and travelled back to Delhi by bus. The consignment was then to be handed over to a habitual illegal arms dealer, Jatin Bhati," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Narra Chaitanya.

Following Nihal's apprehension, police moved to capture Bhati the next day. Bhati was tracked down and arrested after a brief chase in Vasundhara, Uttar Pradesh. Officers also confiscated the sedan that Bhati allegedly used in an attempt to evade police arrest during the pursuit.

According to investigators, Nihal and Bhati first came into contact through a mutual acquaintance in August. DCP Chaitanya stated that Bhati allegedly procured illicit weapons using carriers operating out of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, and subsequently distributed the arms across the Delhi-NCR network.
