Delhi Police Arrest Three Shooters of Tillu Gang in Paschim Vihar
The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested three alleged shooters associated with the Tillu Tajpur-Kaushal Chaudhary-Gurvinder Baba gang and recovered two semi-automatic pistols along with 11 live cartridges, averting suspected extortion attempts. Two of the accused were intercepted near a district park in Paschim Vihar.
Police identified the arrested men as Hemant alias Monu, Nayan Aggarwal, and Durgesh Rai alias Devil, all residents of Delhi. The arrests followed more than 10 days of surveillance and intelligence gathering on active gang members operating across Delhi-NCR.
Hemant and Aggarwal were apprehended near the Paschim Vihar district park on August 2 following a specific tip-off. Their interrogation led to the arrest of Durgesh on August 8. Officers initially seized a semi-automatic pistol and eight live cartridges from Hemant and Aggarwal, later recovering a second pistol and three additional cartridges.
According to investigators, Hemant and Aggarwal revealed that they had travelled to Zirakpur in Punjab in May on instructions from Gurvinder alias Baba, who is based in the United States, to collect a consignment of arms and ammunition. The pair retrieved the weapons from an agricultural field at coordinates shared by Gurvinder Baba and delivered them to a local contact in Delhi.
Police stated that the duo had also visited two salons in Chandigarh during May to carry out extortion attempts but failed to execute the plan. They were allegedly making preparations to target the two establishments again when police caught them.
Durgesh had previously opened fire at a house situated in the fields of Karnal, Haryana, acting on orders from Gurvinder Baba. He is also named as an accused in an abduction and robbery case registered in Rajasthan. Officers noted that Durgesh used the alias Devil and frequently posted social media videos brandishing firearms to project a gangster image.
Hemant, who studied up to Class 12, entered criminal activities for easy money and allegedly managed logistics and finances for the gang. He was previously booked in connection with a shooting incident targeting a restaurant owner. Police said Aggarwal is a first-time offender who partnered with Hemant. Further investigation into the gang's network and other associates remains underway.
