Delhi Police Arrest Couple for Allegedly Running ISI-Backed Espionage Module

The Delhi Police have busted an alleged Pakistan ISI-backed espionage module operating across Delhi-NCR and arrested a couple accused of working for Pakistani intelligence operatives, officials said on Friday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as 25-year-old Md Sahil and his 21-year-old wife Sameera. According to police, the couple had been working with cross-border handlers since 2024, providing logistical support and procuring Indian SIM cards that were sent to Pakistan through Dubai.

Investigators said the couple first established contact with Pakistani agents through social media platforms in 2024. They were subsequently cultivated to assist the espionage network in exchange for financial gains. Their Pakistani handlers allegedly paid them Rs 30,000 for procuring the SIM cards.

Police said the duo also allegedly helped recruit people for espionage activities, which included conducting reconnaissance of cantonment areas at various locations across India.

The crackdown was initiated after the Delhi Police Special Cell received specific information regarding the alleged espionage network active in the Delhi-NCR region. Officers developed the intelligence before identifying the local members involved in the operation.

Sahil was apprehended first by the police. A forensic analysis of his mobile phone allegedly uncovered incriminating conversations with Pakistani intelligence operatives, leading to the subsequent arrests and further revelations regarding the module.
