Delhi Police arrested 193 people and registered 154 cases during a 72-hour special drive named Operation Chakra conducted across north Delhi.

The operation, which took place from August 24 to August 27, targeted illicit liquor distribution, narcotics peddling, illegal arms possession, and gambling activities across several areas of the district.

Police teams drawn from multiple police stations and specialised units were deployed at various locations to conduct intensive checking, patrolling, and surveillance throughout the three-day drive.

During the crackdown, 63 individuals were arrested under the Excise Act. Police seized 10,122 quarter bottles of illicit liquor and impounded a car allegedly used to transport the contraband. Preliminary investigations revealed that the seized liquor had been brought in from neighbouring states for local distribution across Delhi.

Action against narcotics networks led to the arrest of 21 people under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Officers recovered 1.9 kg of ganja, 39.2 grams of heroin, and 544 grams of charas during the raids. In addition, police seized 240 buprenorphine tablets and 500 Avil injections.

The drive was part of focused enforcement measures by north Delhi police to clamp down on street crimes, bootlegging, and narcotics trafficking across the area.
