Delhi Police Arrest 10 in Child Trafficking Bust and Rescue Infant from Rohini

On Friday, July 10, 2026, the Delhi Police announced the arrest of 10 additional suspects and the rescue of four more infants, including a 16-day-old male infant recovered from Rohini, as part of a major crackdown on an interstate child-trafficking racket. The coordinated police operations, which also spanned Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, have exposed an organized syndicate that allegedly procured infants from biological parents to sell them to childless couples for lakhs of rupees.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh, the latest round of arrests includes biological parents from Gujarat, alleged traffickers, mediators, adoptive buyers, and the owner of a private hospital. The police have also traced illicit financial transactions running into several lakhs and are currently examining the money trail through various bank accounts.
The coordinated rescue operations led to the recovery of four infants from different locations. Along with the 16-day-old male infant rescued from Rohini, police recovered a one-month-old male infant from Rishikesh, a one-year-old boy from Mathura, and an eight-month-old male infant from Haridwar. This brings the total number of children rescued in connection with the case to nine.
The child-trafficking network first came to light on June 5, 2026, when a central district police team conducted a decoy operation near the RK Ashram metro station in Paharganj. Officers caught three suspects—Jyoti, Shalu, and Lalit—red-handed while they were attempting to sell a four-to-five-day-old infant to decoy buyers for a token payment of Rs 20,000.
Following the initial bust, police registered an FIR at the Paharganj police station and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional DCP Prashant Chaudhary. Through interrogation and technical surveillance, the SIT uncovered a larger syndicate operating on a "need and supply" model across multiple states.
Among those arrested in the latest sweep are Kantibhai Gamar and Sugnaben Gamar, a couple from Sabarkantha district in Gujarat who allegedly sold their newborn to the syndicate. Another suspect, Shankar Gamar, allegedly worked with a woman named Sahiba to procure infants from biological parents.
The police also arrested several buyers who paid substantial sums for the children. Satish Jain of Delhi allegedly paid Rs 8 lakh to procure an infant for his daughter-in-law, Garima Jain. Ketki Gupta of Rishikesh allegedly purchased a male infant for Rs 4 lakh, while Abha Singh and Amit Pratap Singh of Haridwar allegedly paid Rs 5 lakh for a male child. A retired teacher, Ram Prakash Nishad, was also arrested for purchasing a male child in 2025.
All rescued children have been presented before the Child Welfare Committee for their care, protection, and rehabilitation. Police stated that further investigations are underway to trace the complete money trail and identify other members of the syndicate.
