Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Sanction Letters to Be Issued at Talkatora Stadium on August 26

Eligible women under the Delhi government's Delhi Lakshmi Yojana will begin receiving their sanction letters on August 26 at an event scheduled at Talkatora Stadium. Following the distribution of letters, the monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 will be credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts starting September 1, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Tuesday after a meeting held at the Delhi secretariat.

The government launched the application process for the welfare scheme on August 1. Within the first 18 days of the rollout, approximately 8 lakh women registered for the initiative, and more than 5 lakh completed applications were formally submitted across the city.

Under the guidelines of the scheme, the government will provide financial support to eligible women between the ages of 21 and 60 years. The benefit is restricted to the eldest eligible woman in a household. To qualify, an applicant must have been a resident of Delhi for at least 10 years, hold a valid voter identification card, and belong to a family with an annual household income below Rs 2.5 lakh.

The administration has also laid out a detailed list of exclusion criteria for applicants. Women who pay income tax, work as government employees, receive government pensions, or are already covered under any other pension scheme are not eligible to receive the benefit.

Additionally, applicants from families that own a four-wheeler, have a government employee among family members, or consume more than 2,400 units of electricity annually are barred from the scheme. The exclusion list also disqualifies women who have more than three children as well as individuals with a criminal record.
