Delhi Influencer Nikhil Kochar's Metro Dance Reel Amasses 135 Million Views
A video by Delhi influencer Nikhil Kochar pretending to leave his mobile phone stuck to the outside of a moving Delhi Metro train has garnered over 135 million views on Instagram within two days of being shared online.
Kochar took part in a viral social media trend where participants attach or stick a phone against the exterior of a train, dance in front of the camera on the station platform, and perform an exaggerated sequence of running after the train as it departs. For his video, Kochar attached his device to a Delhi Metro coach and danced to the track “Manma Emotion Jaage” from the 2015 film Dilwale, drawing surprised stares from commuters standing inside the train.
Sharing the clip on Instagram, Kochar wrote in the caption, “Set my own trend with the desi version (Wait for the end view).” In just two days, the reel exploded in reach, generating 135 million views, more than 4.5 million likes, and thousands of comments from social media users.
Initial reactions saw several users questioning how the device was recovered, with comments such as “Phone kaise mila phir? (How did you recover your phone?)” and “Omg seriously, where did the phone go?”
However, numerous viewers dismantled the illusion, explaining that the sequence was achieved using camera trickery rather than risking an actual handset. As viewers noted, in such stunts the phone placed on the outside is typically detached safely before the train pulls out, while a friend sitting inside the coach films the creator through the train window to simulate the receding perspective.
Commenters pointed to visual clues in the footage, including reflections on the train glass and variations in video quality. One viewer noted that taping the phone to the train did not mean the final footage was recorded from that handset, pointing out that the clip was filmed from inside. Another user observed that the final video was an edit merging two separate clips—one showing Kochar and his phone, and a second recorded by a friend through the metro window.
