Delhi Govt Directs Civic Bodies to Link Municipal Services With DigiLocker

The Delhi government's Department of Information Technology directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the New Delhi Municipal Council, and the Delhi Cantonment Board on August 7 to initiate the integration of their municipal services with DigiLocker and Entity Locker. The move aims to make the verification and issuance of civic certificates faster and more secure across the capital.
The directive was issued following a communication from the National e-Governance Division, which operates under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The Delhi government stated that the integration will facilitate seamless digital verification and significantly improve citizen service delivery.
Under the proposed system, citizens will be able to get municipal documents verified digitally instead of relying on physical copies and manual verification processes. External agencies and institutions that require document verification will be able to authenticate municipal records without depending on paper documents.
Through the Requester Model, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and other local authorities will be capable of retrieving and verifying documents directly from the issuing authority in real time. The digital verification system will apply to official civic records, including birth and death certificates, licences, and property ownership records.
