Delhi Government to Inaugurate Key Civic and Infra Projects During Sewa Pakhwada
The Delhi government will inaugurate a series of infrastructure and civic projects across the Capital during the ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ from September 17 to October 2, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Saturday. The fortnight-long initiative marks Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and his 25 years in public governance.
Among the key transport links scheduled for inauguration is Phase-III of the Barapullah elevated road, which connects Sarai Kale Khan with Mayur Vihar. The ₹1,635 crore corridor has been delayed by more than seven years. Other transport projects include an underpass on the Outer Ring Road near Mukarba Chowk and an approach road connecting Badli Junction with the Haiderpur metro station built at a cost of ₹54.10 crore. Transport facilities also include an automated testing station at Burari and a four-lane facility at Tehkhand.
Water and sewerage infrastructure worth ₹863.38 crore will also be commissioned. These include a 2 million gallons per day (mgd) recycling plant at the Bawana water treatment plant, a 564 million litres per day wastewater treatment plant at Okhla, and an interceptor sewer running from the Barapullah Drain to the Batla House Phase II pumping station. The government will also inaugurate a 35 mgd sewage pumping station at Batla House Phase II, rising mains to Okhla, and upgraded wastewater treatment plants at Rithala Phase I and Kondli Phases I, II, and III. Household sewer connections will be dedicated in parts of Gokalpur, Sriram Colony, Rajiv Nagar, and Sonia Vihar.
In education, a ground-plus-three-floor school building in Sector 16, Dwarka, and smart classrooms in East Vinod Nagar and Sector 41, Rohini, will be inaugurated.
The administration will also unveil power infrastructure worth ₹232.42 crore, including grid substations at Arjangarh and Bakkarwala, alongside substations in Okhla Phase I, Sheikh Sarai, Kalkaji, and Uttam Nagar. Civic works include the beautification of roundabouts at Filmistan, Jhandewalan, and Veer Chandra Garhwali Chowk, as well as a public toilet in Shalimar Bagh.
Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra stated that the government and party will also hold a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 featuring blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, and community initiatives.
