Delhi Government Promotes 111 DSS Cadre Officers Across Key Departments

The Delhi government has promoted 111 officers of the Delhi Subordinate Service (DSS) cadre and posted them across key departments, including education, health, revenue, and trade and taxes, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.

The promotions and subsequent postings were executed through a cadre restructuring process carried out in accordance with Delhi High Court orders. The services department issued the deployment orders to address a prolonged period of career stagnation faced by Grade-I officers within the cadre, officials said.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, "The promotions and new responsibilities would help make the administrative system more efficient and accountable and accelerate public service delivery in key sectors."

The administrative move resolves an issue dating back to 2013, when the Delhi High Court initially directed the government to promote officials of the cadre. The matter subsequently underwent multiple rounds of litigation over the years before reaching a final resolution this year, according to an official.

A large number of the promoted personnel have been posted as deputy directors in the education department. In the healthcare sector, postings include appointments of deputy medical superintendents at several major government hospitals, including Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Hospital, GTB Hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, and Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, along with postings as deputy directors in the Directorate of Health Services.

Additionally, officers were designated as subdivisional magistrates (headquarters) and assistant commissioners within the revenue and trade and taxes departments. The reshuffle also encompassed postings for the roles of deputy secretary in the Lieutenant Governor’s secretariat, as well as administrative assignments in the law and justice department and the directorate of vigilance.
