Delhi Government Approves ₹264 Crore to Upgrade 75 CM SHRI Schools
The Delhi government has officially approved a ₹264-crore expenditure aimed at renovating and upgrading the infrastructure of 75 CM SHRI Schools across Delhi. The decisions regarding the major repair and development works were finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday, with the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) sharing the details of the project on Thursday.
The massive financial allocation of ₹264 crore will be utilized to transform these 75 government schools into state-of-the-art educational facilities. Among the primary upgrades planned under this initiative is the installation of comprehensive CCTV systems across the campuses to ensure student safety, alongside the creation of new sports facilities to promote physical activities.
In addition to safety and sports, the infrastructure project will address environmental and utility needs. The approved works include the repair of rainwater harvesting systems at the schools, as well as the complete renovation of multipurpose halls to facilitate various academic and co-curricular events.
According to an official statement released by the government, the overarching objective of this initiative is to elevate the standard of public education facilities in Delhi. The government aims to ensure that students from all backgrounds have access to premier learning spaces.
Speaking on the approval of the funds, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the administration's commitment to educational reform.
"The objective of the government is to develop government schools into modern educational campuses where students have access to a safe, inclusive, technology-enabled and high-quality learning environment," Ms. Gupta said in the statement.
The announcement of the project was made public on Thursday, following the Wednesday meeting where the ₹264-crore budget was cleared. The Delhi government's focus remains on delivering safe, inclusive, technology-enabled, and high-quality learning environments across all the selected 75 CM SHRI Schools.
