Delhi Electoral Roll Revision Schedule Extended, Final List Due on November 4

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across Delhi, postponing key deadlines by approximately a week and moving the publication of the final electoral roll to November 4.
According to an official statement issued by the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office in Delhi following instructions from the ECI, the extension was necessitated because the rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations is still underway. Under the guidelines, officials must ensure that no single polling station serves more than 1,200 voters. The rationalisation deadline, originally set for August 17, has now been pushed to August 24 as authorities await final commission approval.
This marks the third time election authorities have updated the SIR schedule. Under the newly issued timeline, the draft electoral roll will be published on August 31 instead of August 24. Once released, the draft list will be uploaded to the Delhi CEO’s website, allowing residents who submitted their enumeration forms to verify their details.
The window for filing claims and objections has been rescheduled to run from August 31 through September 30, shifting from the earlier window of August 24 to September 23. The subsequent notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will take place between August 31 and October 29, previously slated to conclude by October 22. The publication of the final electoral roll has been deferred from October 27 to November 4.
The preceding enumeration phase, which ran from June 30 to August 17, involved distributing partially filled forms to more than 14.5 million electors across the capital. Official figures show that 9.752 million forms (67.21%) were submitted and digitised, leaving approximately 4.759 million voters (32.79%) at risk of deletion from the draft rolls. Digitisation rates varied across localities, with the southeast district recording the lowest completion rate at 56.38%, while the outer north district recorded the highest at 75.68%.
Election officials have urged electors across the city to review the draft roll following its release on August 31 to confirm that their names and personal information are correctly recorded.
