Delhi Cop Suspended, DTC Driver Penalised After Viral Video Shows Drinking in PCR Van

A Delhi Police head constable has been placed under suspension and a Delhi Transport Corporation driver attached to the Lines after a video showing both personnel consuming alcohol inside a Police Control Room vehicle went viral on social media.
The departmental action came after the footage circulated widely online, drawing sharp public reactions and demands for accountability regarding their conduct while on duty.
Taking cognisance of the matter, the Delhi Police initiated an inquiry to establish the facts and verify the identities of the individuals seen in the video clip.
Following the inquiry, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (PCR) confirmed the identities of the staff members and outlined the disciplinary measures initiated against them in a statement shared on social media platform X.
"Taking cognizance of the viral video, an enquiry into the alleged incident has already been conducted. The erring staff, including a Delhi Police Head Constable and a DTC driver, have been identified. The Head Constable has been placed under suspension, while the DTC driver has been attached to the Lines. Further departmental action for misconduct is being initiated by DTC," the Deputy Commissioner of Police (PCR) said.
Authorities reiterated their stance on discipline within the ranks, emphasising that strict measures are enforced whenever rules are violated.
"Delhi Police does not endorse or tolerate any form of misconduct," the police department stated regarding the incident.
While the head constable faces departmental suspension, separate administrative proceedings for misconduct are being initiated against the driver by the Delhi Transport Corporation.
