Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Hands Appointment Letters to 1,368 Government School Teachers

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 1,368 newly appointed teachers in Delhi government schools, affirming that ensuring better education, health, and a bright future for every child remains the government's foremost commitment.

Speaking at the occasion, Ms. Gupta stated that the event was not merely about handing over appointment letters, but about further strengthening the responsibility of ensuring better education for lakhs of children and their families in Delhi. She noted that Delhi is a city of dreams for people from different parts of the country, adding that every child studying in a Delhi government school is a child of Delhi.

Ms. Gupta said the addition of the new teachers would provide better academic support, guidance, and new opportunities for thousands of students. She described the recruitment drive as an important step towards filling vacant posts in government schools and strengthening overall teaching capacity across the city.

Reflecting on her visits to schools, the Chief Minister noted that interactions with students revealed several institutions lacked teachers for specific subjects such as science and music. In some cases, a limited number of teachers had to handle several classes at once. She said this experience highlighted the seriousness of teacher availability challenges, which prompted subsequent efforts with the Education Department to resolve the issues.

Education Minister Ashish Sood said the induction of 1,368 new teachers into Delhi's education family is an important measure to strengthen the future of thousands of students. Mr. Sood stated that the administration's goal is to ensure a teacher is available wherever needed, subject experts and specialist teachers are provided where required, and every child in Delhi receives an equal opportunity for quality education.
