Delhi CM Orders Sealing of Maujpur Playschool Over Child Abuse Case

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday ordered the immediate sealing of a private playschool in northeast Delhi's Maujpur following the severe physical abuse of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy on the premises.
Following the chief minister's directions, the district magistrate initiated proceedings to seal the school building. The Chief Minister's Office stated on social media platform X that the Delhi government has taken serious cognisance of the disturbing incident and assured that those found guilty will face the strictest action under the law as the police investigation progresses.
The development comes a day after police arrested the school's caretaker in connection with the abuse. However, the victim's father demanded broader accountability, calling for the immediate arrest of a teacher, the principal, and the director of the school, all of whom have been named in the First Information Report.
The father questioned why the primary instigators remain free despite CCTV footage showing the young child being subjected to torture. He stated that the child has been living in absolute terror for the past 15 days, unable to bathe properly or step into the washroom.
According to the father, the family was only provided CCTV footage from three days. He also voiced suspicions that the boy may have been sexually assaulted in areas not covered by surveillance cameras, urging authorities to conduct an exhaustive investigation into the entire incident.
